1. Beas Kund trek with kids

Duration – 3 to 4 days

Recommended for – children between 7 and 10.

The easy to moderately difficult trail will take you to Beas Kund, a glacial lake that is the source of the Beas River. Stay the night in Solang before embarking on the trek.

The next morning, follow the trail through Dhundi to spend the night at the Bhakarthatch meadow. Those who cannot make the long trip can go on a two-day trekking trip to the Patalsu Peak from Solang.

The next day, descend to Solang Valley and continue to Manali by car.

2. Deoria Tal Chandrashila trek with kids

Duration – 6 days

Recommended for – children between 8 and 12

Best time for trek – Winter, Spring, and Autumn

This trek is set in the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttarakhand. The moment trekkers reach their highest point, the rays of the sun lighten the sky. Everything becomes below you — the dusty clouds, the brown hills, the tiny bits of natives.

On a Himalayan trek, this view is usually not seen in the mountain ranges at the distance. This is where Deoria Tal Chandrashila is special. We can see all the major summits of Western and Eastern Uttarakhand from the summit.

Duration – 2 days

This northeast trek is one of the most serene and natural walkthroughs. This trek to Mawthadraishan peak begins from Nongshillong village on Shillong-Nongstoin Road. We can approach it by taking a 4 km kutcha- road from Nongshillong. It is an easy trek for beginners and our kids as it stretches with campsites too.

This peak is the highest in the region and on a clear day, kids can see the picturesque Himalayas to the north, the Garo Hills to the west, the Khasi hills to the east, and Bangladesh to the south, thus giving the perfect panoramic view and adventure to our little trekkers. Nearby the peak is a place called Mawphanlur where we can find several pools.

From Mawphanlur, we can trek to Markasa and reach Nongshillong. The entire trek will take 8-9 hours.

5. Bhrigu Lake trek with kids

Duration: 4 days

Season: Summer and Autumn

Kids are always curious to discover the whole world in a bit of a minute, so let’s introduce them to this natural trailer about the Himalayas, where every scene is beautiful and engaging, Bhrigu Lake is a high altitude alpine lake, which is just three days hike from Manali.

The steep trail goes through virgin forests and lush green meadows which open into the beautiful campsite of Rola Khuli. We can watch the  Hanuman Tibba and Seven Sisters peaks on our way. On the second day, we can trek uphill to the oval-shaped lake which is believed to change colors with seasons. If you want your kid to have all the experience of a full-fledged Himalayan trek, in a nutshell, the trek to Bhrigu Lake is the best trek.
